It may be hard to get everybody to a face to face meeting, so I'll throw this out for feedback. The way things are evolving, this is what makes sense to me right now:
1. We establish a new organization—South Jersey Recreation Alliance (Initial focus could be WSF.)
2. The purpose of the Alliance is to
(a) cultivate cooperation and mutual respect among all responsible users of the state forests and wildlife mgt areas (WMA’s) of s. Jersey
(b) encourage responsible use of the state lands (guided by Tread Lightly principles)
(c) volunteer for projects that help conserve the natural and historic resources
3. The Alliance will be registered as a volunteer organization for each of the state parks in s. Jersey
4. The Alliance is governed by a committee that meets regularly (once a month?) Ideally, this committee would be composed of a good variety of types of recreational users (4WD, equestrian, hiking, etc.)
5. To become a member you have to apply to and be approved by the governing committee. (The application form could be available on this forum)
6. The regular activities of the Alliance include
(a) Organized events for exploration and recreation
(b) Volunteer activities for individual parks and/or WMA’s (especially maintaining signs)
(c) Patrol functions are informal and incidental to other activities (No one is to approach offenders).
(d) Educational programs and workshops that focus on responsible use of the state lands
Looking forward to discussing these ideas!
