Does anyone know if this is true or not? I was told by a State Park Police officer that Apple Pie Hill has a camera installed and that any vehicle on the hill will receive a ticket in the mail. I don't believe it for a few reasons. The state has no money for something like that but more importantly anything at APH gets destroyed so I don't think the state would install something there just to have it ruined. I'm very curious about this.

That would require a camera, an RTU (radio telemetry unit) and an antenna (assuming the video feed is wireless) It would also have to get power from somewhere. I assumed the vandalism was so extensive, that none of this would be capable. I'll try to take a hike up there this week.

my ticket hasn't came yet. I rode up there to check out the progress of the work that was performed. I did this about a week ago.

The state has a camera but the last time we talked to someone up there it hasn't been installed for fear of damage because it is so expensive.

I walked up this afternoon, trash bag in hand. I started picking up trash, and then realized I could do a more effective job if I had my truck close by. Total haul was 4 large bags, 2 computer CPU's & monitors (all smashed, evident of being dropped off of the tower)
Interesting that where the Batona Trail leads towards the hill, someone place white ribbon that read "Batona Trail, No Motor Vehicles". Then, at the tower, there was white ribbon across the handrails for the staircase reading "This are being patrolled & watched"
Is this what Bill & Joe saw at Oswego Lake?
Funny, while looking at the tower, there are names & phone #'s graffiti'd all over it. How stupid.
P.S. I saw no cameras.

What kind of ribbons were they? Professionally done or someone with a sharpie?

"This are being patrolled & watched" sounds like me on a good night.

What kind of ribbons were they? Professionally done or someone with a sharpie? It was just simple white survey ribbon with the words written in Sharpie. Also, if the mods of the board want to delete my part of the report about there being no cameras in place, please do. I reported it in confidence to all here, but I see nothing wrong with some who may happen upon our site to believe that there is surveilance.

So those ribbons are not done with approval from the state that would make them litter and punishable! Same as the person stopping people and telling them they are an enforcement agent! So everyone knows we can't just go out and post signs! You have to have permission and approval from the state people! Just like towns can't just change a speed limit without state approval! Everything we want to do has to be put through the right channels before we can do it!
