Not for nothing here, but isn't the park open from sunrise to sunset? 9:30 seems to be after sunset. Nope wharton state Forrest is open 24/7 there's no time limit , carranza itself is closed after sunset but we weren't at the memorial You might want to check on that. You may be suprised.

I have copies of the rules and regs and nowhere is there hours listed of when your allowed in Wharton , some parks themselves have limits but not the woods , and besides any of that the park police didn't say anything about us not being allowed there after a certain hour

I would like a clarification on this if possible.
I have never heard of the state forests being closed at night. I know the parks such as Batsto were open from dawn to dusk but not the forest. I've been in the Wharton State Forest at dark so many times throughout the years and this is the first time it's ever come up. I have never had a ranger or park police officer say anything to me about the forest being closed after dark.

Yea I agree I have never heard of the Forrest being closed after dark other then actual parks , most of the dirt roads are mapped and there is no posted signs stating hours you can or can't drive them , this is the First I'm hearing of this , I seen plenty of rangers and night and not once have they said I couldn't be there cause it was dark out

Just got off the phone with the batsto office, and as we all suspected the forest itself is open 24/7, which is why it is usually patrolled 24/7. The internal vistor attractions such as Batsto or Atsion lake are open with posted hours or dawn til dusk. Wharton and Byrne and all access roads are 24/7

My pleasure checking into it with Batsto. It just didn't sound right, the entire state forest being closed dusk til dawn. How would that be accomplished? besides, there needs to be pre dawn access for deer hunting, etc. and there are campsites within the perimeter that would need early or late access.
