Hey all! I was thinking of doing a BBQ/Get Together sometime in April for a couple of the groups that I belong to. I think this would be a great way to spread our message to some of the various user groups. I haven't worked out the details yet, but I would plan on having it somewhere in/near Wharton. We have a BBQ business and a big cooker, so the menu would be varied and there will be some potluck involved as well.
The cost would be all-you-can-eat at about $10 per person. What do you all think? Would it be something you would be interested in?

sounds good , maybe something like that site we had at bellplain for the sjg bday with the pavilion , is there anyway local we could do that ? i know of a nice secluded spot with one at the old lake worth in clemonton but i dont know who to get ahold of to get permission , it is state owned now so im not sure if we could just go use it or need permits , it would be an ideal location

It looks like April isn't going to work. I was reminded about Easter weekend and Palm Sunday and there are other events going on the other weekends. The date is going to be May 14th or 15th. (Not sure if we are better off on Saturday or Sunday yet).
Looking into a site now and working on the menu.
Nick, I know Bass River has a pavilion we could use. I did want to keep it closer to Wharton, but Bass River is a great spot as well.
More info posted here as I set it up.

The pavilions, esp off season, are great. I rented parvin and belleplain already this year for OCSJ. $80 Bryne has one too, but I'm not supporting them till the camping reopens. Just check if they have a problem with your BBQ gear. (april would have been tough)

An option....
There is a place called the Kowboy Korral on Rt 563, the entrance is directly across from where Iron Pipe Rd exits Wharton State Forest. (about 3 miles away from the Green Bank Inn) It is fully equipped with cooking areas, a pavilion and even a covered stage. Gipsie, I will PM you the contact info, I have not meet these people but others here have had yearly events there that I have worked as part of the support crew on.
