SUNDAY MARCH 6th – 9:30 AM - BATONA TRAIL MAINTENANCE MARCH 6 Sunday 9:30 a.m.
In conjunction with the Batona Hiking Club. An easy work trip to help keep the section of the Batona Trail from Ong’s Hat to Batsto in top shape. Bring lunch and clipping tools (if you have them, or use Batona’s). Depending on the number of people that show up, we’ll separate into groups of four, each assigned to approximately 6 to 8 mile sections of the trail. Since opening in 1961 as a 30-mile trail, it has become a well-used part of New Jersey's trail system. With the help of volunteers like you, the trail has grown to 50 miles. Meet at the Red Lion Diner parking lot (west side) at the circle – intersection of Rts. 70 and 206 at 9:30 A.M. Leader: Milt Cannan, 856-983-9076.

Notes:
Tools most useful are loppers, hedge trimmers and bow saws. No power equipment on this event.
Trail maintenance isn’t covered by OCSJ Club Insurance. Members are covered by the State VIP program for work on state lands. If you work on property not owned by the state , you are participating as individuals and not as members of OCSJ

Yes, it is. Its a joint event with the Batona Club of Philly, that does the trail from Ongs hat to Batsto. The leader is Milt.
--------------------------------------------- And there is the OCSJ version shortly after that handles the other half of the trail from Batsto to Bass River. Leader Bruce.

The OCSJ general member policy is that a new person can try any event free for the first time. Good to call that leader ahead of time.
If anyone ever goes on the Batona trail. Its these groups that help to maintain and clear that trail.
