So I understand that the area around Jemima is now being watched closely by the Park Rangers. And that people are starting to get into trouble big time for going there.
Well after a discussion with my girlfriend explaining this, she didn’t quite see why Jemima was closed off. The only answer I could give her was to stop the spread of all the newly made roads there. Which does make since, I don’t want to go to areas that are torn up with nothing pleasant to look at. But it got me wondering, is that the only reason, or is there some species that is being harmed that I am unaware of? I know at ¼ mile you have a breeding ground for various animals, which added to the reason for shutting that area down, but is something like that happening at Jemima. Also, out of curiosity, does anyone know if the road leading to Jemima is illegal to travel on or is it just illegal to take a vehicle up the hill?

it is legal to drive all the way to the base of the hill just not allowed to drive on it , i dont think there is anything endangerd in area , just the fact of the destruction is getting worse to the hill and surrounding plant life in general

I don't know what the real answer is, but I think part of it is that it's a natural break in the topography of the surrounding area. Driving on it causes erosion & diplacement of the soil, thus eradicating the hill. Again, not really fact.......just my perception.
I suppose it's the same reason they place erosion protection at the designated canoe/kayak launches (i.e. Evan's Bridge)

There was a Ford Explorer group riding up the side in Late January. They posted pics and videos online. They blurred their tags in the photos, but they are clear in the videos. They claim that a Ranger OK'd their ride.
Yeah, right.
