Thanks for bringing that up russ.
That little detail escaped me for a while... became a member of the board in December - but only stumbled upon the 'official membership application' last week.
I submitted the second application - but haven't received any sort confirmation or even receipt confirmation? Also I have been checking my inbox for a copy of the bylaws mentioned at the last meeting but have yet to receive anything?

Maureen is working on the membership applications, and I think the bylaws are posted on the forum somewhere. I'll get back to you on that by tomorrow morning, if you can't find them. Got home duties right now....

Hello all, I thought I made a post here last night but I was using my phone and it didn't seem to show up in the right place. I'm a new member and would like to be considered for the open Skiing position. Like Lissa, I do many of the listed activities but in general, I love the forests and want to help with this effort. I have tried to contact all the right folks to be considered for the position but whatever happens with that, I will be an active participant and volunteer. I look forward to seeing those of you I know and meeting those of you I don't, tonight.

all, as i recall and i just remembered so i apologize for not bringing it up before elections... but i know the meeting i was at i had brought up that the board should be comprised of an odd number so as to avoid any ties in voting as most national organizations do. i thought everyone liked the idea..

that's a good point - but we can't create a position without a legitimate user group. RUSS has suggested that unanimous is the goal for the group, but nobody can know for sure if that will be a realistic proposition in all situations. i have been contacted a few times about a 'sand-dog sled' team? honestly didn't know such things existed... only in S. Jersey that group may or maynot be a tie breaker?

Regarding the sled dogs, I do know a woman here in Tabernacle that has a team of dogs. I could reach out to her if we want to get them involved. Thoughts?
I've seen folks running sled teams quite a bit. It looks like a great time. Tons of work, though.
How the folks training retrievers? Maybe just a "Canine Sports" representative?

It's a topic the new Governing Committee may want to take up, and we did have some brief discussion at the meeting. My personal opinion is that it won't have much of a practical effect. The bottom line is that in order for any motion to pass, it must receive a majority vote. If we vote on a motion and the votes are tied, it's not a stalemate. That motion would simply fail.
