First I'd like to say I thought the meeting went very well last night and I am looking forward to working with you all soon! I briefly mentioned the New York/New Jersey Trails Conference to talk about trail building. This group has been doing what I believe we would like to do since 1920. They are very organized and their website is pretty intense. One of the areas on the website deals with reporting trail repair requests and reporting trail abuse using online forms. I think this is something we should strive to do. I am not sure how the data collected is managed and what parts are used officially by park police but it would give us a uniform way to log complaints and identify possible projects. If we can't make the online form happen, this would be a good start for creating a paper form. I wonder what they do with that information.
It says: Don't be Confrontational Be Polite, but Firm
Tricky.
It may be good at first to just help build a list of sites and problem areas for a more detailed overall view.

"Be Polite but Firm" is a good way to act when we are talking about trying to hold off the state from closing down Wharton altogether. I know we will be taking baby steps with regards to our projects and patrols on the trails and that is a good policy, but I would love to look into how NYNJ Trails operates and adopt some of their workflows. They pull a lot of money from the NJ Trails Plan Fund and I would like to see some of the money come down our way. I've given up on South Jersey becoming the 51st State so if we can't beat them...
