We could actually join the Blue Ribbon coalition as an Organization. As well as Tread Lightly!

We could actually join the Blue Ribbon coalition as an Organization. As well as Tread Lightly! Another good idea. I started to look for information on this on the BRC website but got sidetracked. I will try to check it out tomorrow!

We could actually join the Blue Ribbon coalition as an Organization. As well as Tread Lightly! That is a good idea. But something to think about. If NJTLC were to join Blue Ribbon, would Blue Ribbon be calling the shots. Or would they just be helping us out. Does NJTLC want to become a small part of a national group, or stay a group which is made up of the actual individuals who use and love the pines. Just food for thought.

Sorry for the double post.
But having said that, why simply not contact Blue Ribbon and let them know what we are about. They may be willing to offer helpful advice from experience. Or maybe program ideas that have worked for them in the past.

JP. Jeepinjp I believe is the regional rep for BRC. He would be a good person to start with about them.

Our bylaws (Article IV) have a provision for "affiliated organizations." Would that be a good approach the Blue Ribbon Coalition?
A. Any organization whose mission and conduct are consistent with the purposes and standards of conduct of the New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition is eligible to become affiliated with the New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition.
B. The New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition reserves the right to strike from its list of affiliated organizations any organization that, in the judgment of the Governing Committee, does not maintain purposes and standards of conduct consistent with those of the New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition.
C. Application for affiliation shall be made to the Governing Committee, and will be accepted at any time during the year.
D. Affiliated organizations are encouraged to support the purposes of the New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition and encourage their members to become members of the Coalition.
E. Members of affiliated organizations are not members of the New Jersey Trail Lovers Coalition merely by virtue of the affiliation.

Copied from their website. As far as I can see they meet our current reqwuirements mentioned in the bylaws, however the bylaws that you have posted (D & E specifically) sort of contradict one another.
Who We Are: The BlueRibbon Coalition is a national non-profit organization dedicated to protecting responsible recreational access to public lands and waters. We want to keep your land open for use, whether you recreate on a mountain bike, snowmobile, motorcycle, personal watercraft, ATV, four-wheel drive, horse, or your hiking boots. (read more)
Today, the BlueRibbon Coalition is a respected national recreation group that represents over 10,000 individual members and 1,200 organization and business members, for a combined total of over 600,000 recreationists nationwide.
If you would like us to keep you informed of the latest recreational access issues and ways you can help prevent land closure, sign up to receive our email Action Alerts.

... however the bylaws that you have posted (D & E specifically) sort of contradict one another. The idea is just that members of NJTLC are always individuals, and they must apply for membership individually. No one can become a member of NJTLC merely because he or she belongs to an affiliated organization. For example, suppose the Sierra Club applies to become an affiliated organization. Suppose our Governing Committee decides to accept that application. We don't want that transaction to automatically result in the enrollment of every member of the Sierra Club in NJTLC.
