I joined this forum because I believe that if all of us in the various user groups communicate more, we can not only get along, but we can make the state lands safer and more enjoyable for everyone. The majority of us do not want state lands to be havens for outlaws, and we don't want the natural resources damaged. And we don't want to tolerate a lot of immature, obnoxious, and irresponsible behavior. We want to be able to bring our families out there and appreciate the natural world.
It looks like we are going to get some help from the state forest people and from the state park police in establishing an alliance of users. I'm calling it the Wharton Recreation Alliance, for now, but we can call it whatever we all decide, once we get to the point of actually setting it up.
The idea is that we would all get ourselves registered as volunteers for the state park (Wharton is my focus right now, but this goes for all of them). Whenever we are out there, driving, riding, hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, or whatever, we think of ourselves as guardians. We volunteer to keep signs posted and help build barricades to areas that are off limits. We report offenders.
So, that's what I plan to be a part of, and I think this forum will be the main tool that we can use to get it going. Thanks for starting it up, Tom!

That's a great idea! If you plan to have it spread to all of the pinelands maybe it should be the Pineland recreation alliance. Anyway welcome to the forum!
