Here are a couple of suggestion for names: 1. Friends of the Forest (a coalition of outdoor user groups) 2. Friends of Natural Lands (a coalition of outdoor users) 3. Natural Lands Preservationist 4. Outdoor Users Coalition 5. Outdoor Enthusiast Coalition (helping to preserve out state's natural lands) You need a thesaurus for this stuff! Just think it should be a generic as possible so that we can include all user groups, which will be the groups strength.

Good job Al! I think we'll all have a tough time putting them in order. All are great suggestions.

United Outdoor Alliance of NJ? (UOANJ) (No offense to Al, just thinking out loud) Since there are so many interests coming together here, I thought United & Alliance may be good keywords.
Mission Statement..."To unite all user's of NJ's open spaces towards the common goal of ongoing recreation, conservation & education regardless of special interest."
All members.......feel free to critique, modify, tear apart, etc. the above......again, just thinking out loud.

Sounds good to me. As stated previously I'm not picky with names really. I named my kidsa David, Jason, and Steven due to liking plain old traditional names. I also stated previously, I'm not fond of the whol "Preservation" word. From being relativley new to the environmental scene. The first thing I think of with "preserve" is "to keep stuff out" such as preserved foods. In my later times I know now that it's more "to protect" however like I said to someone of ignorance to what we are trying to accomplish it could be a misinterpeted.

I like it Tim! The mission statement is good in my eyes. It is short and to the point and well descriptive. Just what it should be.

I was kinda partial to "South Jersey Recreation Alliance" but I like "Friends Of Wharton " as well.. I know what most are gonna say , but were here to protect all open spaces. but I think wharton is gonna be a tough task in it self

I like just plain Outdoor Alliance of NJ and Friends of Wharton (this task is going to be a tough one in and of it's self). In the mission statement there should be something about ...in conjunction with the state.......

"Outdoor Alliance of NJ" streamlines my idea. I like it! I also agree with your addition to the mission statement.

I still like NJTLC Is there any group that don't use the trails? You have to use the trails to access the wilderness for any use! How do you get out there to Hunt, Photograph, Kayak, Fish or anything else. Isn't this the purpose to save the trails we all use to access the areas that interest you most? This name is established and I've worked hard to get the name out to all the different groups to change now would be taking a step back! As for the word preservation. This in my eyes means to keep people out if this is the direction some people want to go I'll have no part of it!!! Yes there are sensitive areas that need to be protected but to close trails NO! I CAN NOT and WILL NOT support trail closures!! I've been fighting hard to stop the illegal activities in Wharton! I've made some new friends and some new enemies! As for the mission statement I like it! To add in conjunction with the state would be a lye the only thing the state does is stop good people from accomplishing anything! Red tape, no money blah blah blah. Now that I got that off my chest. Sorry I couldn't make the meeting! I'll have to make sure I'm at the next!

Can we step back for a bit? (since I'm new here)
Why wasn't NJTLC accepted? Not realizing the amount of pre-planning, inviting, assembling, etc. Changing now could indeed be a step back.
I. also feel "preservation" should be avoided. Someone told me long ago. "Preservation is non use, Conservation is wise use."

njtlc was a name we accepted after some debate, so we could get things rolling. I am in favor of leaving the name alone , after the leg work Tom did . Besides, i also spread this name around to different groups to get the awareness out.

I am in support of using NJTLC. I was refraining from saying this, but I always liked it as well and was a little upset when we were talking about changing it. It is to the point and has a great abbreviation. TLC. Gotta love it. We are giving our woods some TLC!
