Trails Access Coalition Political Action Committee (TAC PAC)
What is TAC PAC?
The TAC PAC is a political action committee formed to support candidates, policy, and legislation which serves and promotes off- highway trail riding. The TAC PAC helps build relationships with key lawmakers and their staff in order to ensure that your voice is heard before a law or policy is passed.
Wise stewardship of the trail system and a thorough understanding of the way the trails are used, along with a scientific basis for policy and regulation that is both open and reasonable are the goals of the TAC PAC.
How Does the Off-Road Community Benefit from PAC Contributions?
The legislature is responsible for the land use laws and policies that affect off-highway users. Their decisions can have a tremendous impact on us - for better or worse. Contributions will help TAC PAC to financially support candidates who share the TAC PAC's common beliefs of allowing and preserving access to off-highway users.
Why Have a TAC PAC?
It is a simple reality of our time that even the courts call money, “political speech”. No matter how you feel about this situation, it is the world in which we live. If the trail riding community hopes to have a voice in the political conversation, there needs to be a way to amplify that voice and the TAC PAC is the answer.
Politics is a competitive game and it is played with money. Getting elected involves advertising, logistics and staff. This can get expensive and it’s important that we support the politicians who understand the heritage, history and importance of access to trails on public lands. One thing is sure, those intending on eliminating this access certainly know the rules of the game.
Who Can Contribute to TAC PAC?
Off-highway enthusiasts are encouraged to contribute, as well as qualified off-highway manufacturers and dealerships. Any individual, corporation, club, or group who wants to see policy and legislation which permits responsible use of off-highway trail should contribute and in that way help the sport survive and thrive!
