The GC will be voting in January for the NJTLC Volunteer award for 2012.
The nominees are (insert drum roll): Joe Springer, of PBER. For his mammoth research undertaking on behalf of the Enduro community. He collected statistics and information vital to protecting the rights of this community and compiled a thorough and convincing presentation of this data that will be a centerpiece of the dialog as the SF staff tries to streamline the approval process for these events. It is our hope that these facts will help inform those making the decisions. Joe's efforts represent the kind of hard work that defines the term "unsung hero".
Dave Uth, of SJER. Dave was the runner up for our award last year and 2012 saw him give every bit as much of his time to the forests as 2011 did. It's difficult to name each and every group or project that benefits from Dave's efforts but to name a few of the key things he did this year: SJER trail preparation and clean-up, PBER trail preparation and clean-up, PBER Hare Scramble, NJTRA trail preparation and sweep, Wharton SF Bridge repair, NJTLC Clean-ups. Dave not only volunteers his own time but he organizes crews and takes on responsibilities for entire aspects of each project with which he's involved. Dave is truly an exemplary volunteer.
