At the March meeting, we will be holding elections for the Governing Committee. By the coalition's Bylaws, we need to vote on half of the positions. All terms are to be two years but in order to prevent a 100% turn-over on the GC, half the spots for the first group are to be one year terms. The incumbents on the committee are as follows:
4WD - Joe McNamee Paddle Sports - Tim McGarvey Cross Country Skiing - Tom Hedden Enduro - Greg O'Brien Fine Arts - Terry Schmidt Geocaching - Nick Musero Hiking... - Tom Neigel (likely to be one of six to be voted on) Historical - Dominic Nogare Equestrian - Hugh MacDonald Hunting... - Kenny Dean Montanaro Biking - Lissa Arsenault (likely to be one of six to be voted on) Natural History - open (definitely one of six to be voted upon)
Please feel free to make any nominations you would like, including yourself, for the committee. If we have less than six contested spots, we'll hold pro-forma votes on as many places as we need to make it so that we have six places starting new terms in 2012. If we have nominations for more than six, the standing GC will cull the list down to six upon which the membership will vote.
We have made the coalition's membership process a very open one and look forward to having everyone's voice heard. All who have submitted applications are members, so come out and vote!

Food for thought... Since there was a mid-year changeover in a few GC spots, it might make sense to have those positions confirmed by the membership at the March meeting. The re-shuffling involved Fine Arts, History and Geo-Caching. It we assume Hiking, Biking and Natural History will be on the ballot, adding those three would fill the quota of six. If anyone steps forward for one of the other spots, I'm certainly willing to reconsider. This will definitely be an agenda item for February.

Since I have received no input or volunteers for the Governing Committee, the March elections will likely be for the following six places, and the candidates will be unopposed. Hiking/Camping Biking Natural History History Geo-Caching Fine Arts Please feel free to post here, come to the February meeting (tomorrow night) or send me a pm if you would like to nominate someone or if you would like to take issue with this plan.
We still need nominations for Hiking and Biking.

Our story so far...
We will be voting on a proposed Bylaws change. This was presented at the February meeting. The change would consolidate the Biking and Cross Country Skiing positions on the Governing Committee and create a new position for Canine Sports.
If the change is adopted we will not be voting to fill the new Canine representative spot until a suitable candidate can be found. I have invited some folks from those disciplines to join us at the meetings.
If the change is defeated, we will need to find a new Biking candidate. If we have one in time, and if the bylaw change is not adopted, they will be up for election at the March meeting.
To date, we also do not have a candidate for the Hiking/Camping position.
The Geo-Caching, Fine Arts, Natural History and History candidates are currently unopposed and will be confirmed by voice vote if that does not change.
If you would like to be considered for a position or if you want to nominate someone, you can either post it here, send me a message through the site or reach out to any of the other members of the Governing Committee. We are actively looking for someone for the Hiking/Camping position.
