So who likes to go camping??
I like going 52 weeks a year.
I actually like it more in January then in the middle of July, with the spring and fall the best times.
What's good about camping is that it can be combined with anything from hiking to 4wheeling, or anything.
Nothing better then comming back to a big campfire and food and friends hanging out.
I may go down to Belleplain and camp on the lake for easy boat rides, or bike the back trails for 10-20 miles.
Its nice to go north to Alliare off season to camp at night and fish the beaches during the day.
Worthington by the Delaware watergap is great because of all the places to explore nearby. Even check out the old copper mines along saw mill road?

Yeah, winter camping is great! More quiet and less swatting. I spent this past New Years at Bass River in one of the lean to cabins. In the past I've hiked into Skyline Drive in February to camp at Mary's Overlook and hiked down Pine Creek Gorge to camp in the Grand Canyon of PA in December. The cold really adds a little edge to the camping trips.

Yeah man! I like to tell people, Its not cold enough until you hear your water bottle crackling and freezing next to your bed.
I camp next to my friend in my van with no heat, and he is in his trailer with a heating system and says to me, burrr, I was freezing last night... And I was hot in my 0deg down bag.
Was really trying to wiggle some camping in this weekend. A little wet though. Guess I'll get zoom and hang from the wall inside the van as a tv.

I've been trying to figure out a way to get involved with travelling contract work so I can camp for months at a time. My ideal scenario would be to eventually have a family were camping is the accepted norm for 3-6 months out of the year. I currently work for a school system - so that opens up possibilities.
I grew up camping up and down the east coast in a 1969(?) VW bus with a westfalia conversion... it was rugged and i vividly remember several 'sitting on the side of the road while dad tried to get spark scenarios'... but they are all fond memories that built my desire to camp.
Any motorcycle campers here? It's a whole different camping discipline... closer to backpacking than anything.

Yeah man, Gman. That work thing gets in the way of a nice long term journey. I'm trying to figure out that compromise, and don't want to wait till retirement. It'll likely be when the current job ends. Its the trap, needed more $$ to feel secure and for retirement vs wasting valuable time waiting to retire.
I was told once, that I go camping just to go camping. And I do.
Bryne will be open for camping during the summer season from Memorial day to Labor Day. I truly wish it was more because I tend to the cool weather camping.
Planning to utilize June as much as possible, with extented weekends and going to work from there.
Is Atsion Family Campground open yet?

It's really too bad they close down for the winter months. With all the insect life in the summer, the woods are far more pleasant in the cooler temps.
