At our June meeting, the point was raised that there are folks out there who have filed membership applications but remain unaware that they were accepted. The short answer to that question is "yes". We have had some reorganization at the coalition over the past year and it has been decided that the criteria for joining is simply the desire to join. If you would like to come out and do some work for the benefit of the forest or if you have ideas about how we could work with your group or club, we would love to hear about it. Our meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Red Lion Inn in Southampton NJ (near the intersection of Routes 206 and 70). While this system is far more informal than was originally conceived, we find it fits better with our new attitude. If you have assumed that this coalition is no longer active, you are misinformed. We have been keeping a lower profile by design and it's working out very well. We support events for all of our user groups, provide work crews for forest projects, arrange private tours for our dedicated volunteers and give out awards to people doing good things that benefit the forests. We even get together just for fun. That is really the "secret" aspect of this group - we're smaller, and we like it that way. We all get along and we get a great deal accomplished. We just don't talk about all of it on open internet forums. So come join the fun and don't stand on principle, waiting for an invitation... you're invited. Please note that we will not be holding summer meetings. If you want to join us before September, come on out to a Canoe Clean-Up (dates will be posted here) or send me a PM and I'll loop you in on the email chains.
