Since this is a coalition of people who have different views, and people who have strong feelings about those views, it is inevitable that debates will break out. Which is good, and needed (in my opinion).
However, these debates may have a tendency to break out threads that have another purpose. This will take attention away from a proposed course of action, which is not good. A good example is the debate that occurred in the "Adopt a Trail Idea" thread.
So wouldn't it be a good idea to have a section where these debates can take place apart from other, more important threads? When something like this occurs either an admin can move some of these post to this "debating" section. Or the poster will make their new post in this section and reference the original thread.
Just an idea, let me know what you think.

Almost every forum has a "slag heap" or "mud pit" or in other words " debating section". It mayu not be what people want, but the whole thing that sparked this group to come together was debating. Alot can be learned from debates. As long as people know that debating is just that and leave out name calling and discriminating comments, I'm game
