Well, we met today to start the posting of "no Motorized Vehicle" signs at the trailheads which lead into 1/4 mile. Bill, Al, Nick, Ken & myself met up with Rob & voluteer Eric. We completed the posting of all points suggested by Wharton staff as well as placed a larger twin post sign along the way to Lower Forge. I say "complete/started" since we completed the initial posting of the designated areas, and now we start the task of maintaining those signs. Also, the bridges in Hampton were repainted to cover the directions to 1/4 mile as well as some trees. It was a great morning for this task! Thanks to Bill for donating & building the backer-boards. Wow, that's impressive. Good thing for the organization too.
Congradulations. And thank you guys.
What kind of signs did you put up around quarter mile? Its a great start in getting the message out. Big step.

Thanks for the update. Where exactly were all the signs placed? Can we show this on a map?

Do we have an area on the forum where upcoming project can be posted. I would like to be involved in the work being done and I'm sure others would help as well. Also, I have the ability to print on the Tyvek rolls up to 42" wide.

Question: I did not see anything that states exactly where these signs are located. From the above link it seems as though the signs where placed in a spot that closed off much more than just quater mile, which should not be the case. Where these signs placed with the Rangers permission? And where the proposed locations of these signs discussed with the members of this group?
P.S. I also wanted to put in that it looks like your guys did a very nice job and put in some good work out there.

I was also curious if the outline could be posted here on a map of some type? Also, just a quick question, is Push Line Road completely closed from Lower Forge camp on? Reason I ask is I use this road alot to go from Quaker to Carranza and it was previously posted as a 'Main" trail denoted by the plastic "M" signage. Thanks in advance

I initially thought the expanded area from 1/4 mile was a little extreme, but all signs were placed at the direction & witnessed by the WSF Superintendant. The location was discussed at a meeting in which the WSF Superintendant attended & stated he wanted 1/4 mile posted and certain roads leading to it. The above link (with associated map) is someone's assumption of the posted area. I am awaiting a map from WSF denoting the areas posted.

I think my post above may answer your first question about the map. I don't know the real answer to your question about Push Line Road as I'm not very familiar with Road names , but I'm sure someone (devilstoy?) may have an answer for you. Does a plastic "M" really denote "main" road?

Alrighty. Some of the post on the other site made it sound as if there was much more blocked off (Manis Pond, Devious etc.) I work in DE and will have to book it to make it to meetings, so I was unaware if it was discussed. I just wanted to make sure that 1/4 was the only area affected and that it didn't block off access to other roads or areas.

Muck,
As far as I am aware, the little plastic "m" denotes a main trail in WSF. They are on the trees on Quaker Bridge, Push Line, and I think Tukcerton and Iron Pipe Road. Push Line is the road that leads from Quaker Bridge to the Lower Forge Camp and on to Carranza. I'll PM Nick or he can answer me here.
Thanks

I believe a map showing exactly what area was closed off is essential. I just made a flyer that states "Coming Together to Preserve Open Space" and the first thing we did was take it away. Now I agree that 1/4 mile should be off limits but how many roads around it were closed? Can't really make an argument one way or other unless we know exactly was closed off.
